{"id":9274,"date":"2020-12-01T22:09:28","date_gmt":"2020-12-01T22:09:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/news\/?p=9274"},"modified":"2021-06-04T12:01:59","modified_gmt":"2021-06-04T12:01:59","slug":"wordpress-5-6-release-candidate-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/news\/2020\/12\/wordpress-5-6-release-candidate-2\/","title":{"rendered":"WordPress 5.6 Release Candidate 2"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The second release candidate for WordPress 5.6 is here!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WordPress 5.6 is slated for release\u00a0on\u00a0<strong>December 8, 2020<\/strong>, and we need\u00a0<em>your<\/em>\u00a0help to get there\u2014if you haven\u2019t tried 5.6 yet,\u00a0now is the time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can test WordPress 5.6 release candidate 2 in two ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Try the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/wordpress-beta-tester\/\">WordPress Beta Tester<\/a>\u00a0plugin (choose the \u201cbleeding edge nightlies\u201d option).<\/li><li>Or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/wordpress-5.6-RC2.zip\">download the release candidate here (zip)<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you to all of the contributors who tested the&nbsp;Beta releases and gave feedback. Testing for bugs is a critical part of polishing every release and a great way to contribute to WordPress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plugin and Theme Developers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please test your plugins and themes against WordPress 5.6 and update the\u00a0<em>Tested up to<\/em>\u00a0version in the readme file to 5.6. If you find compatibility problems, please be sure to post to the <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/forum\/alphabeta\/\">support forums<\/a>.
