Description

The hearthis.at plugin allows you to integrate a player widget from hearthis.at into your WordPress Blog by using a WordPress shortcodes.
this is how it works:

These Shortcodes do also supports several optional parameters. These parameters will pass its given value as option on to the player widget.
At the moment the hearthis Shortcode accepts the following parameter and options:

• width define the width of the widget (number value and if <= 100 means in % and abouve 100 is in pixels. default is 100)
• height define the height of the widget (integer value or empty for default )
  if this value is less 100 it will passed as percent if it is higher than 100 it will parsed as pixels
• theme you can choose between these 2 options transparent (default) or transparent_black
• hcolor button and passed time color for the waveform (not set or a hex color with or without a prependig #)
• color highlight color for the waveform (not set or a hex color with or without a prependig #)
• style style ‘1’ is default waveform and value ‘2’ is the digitized waveform
• background shows the background if set (values not set, 1 or 0, if is 1 the height is 170px)
• waveform hides the waveform if you set to ‘1’, change track height fixed to 95px (values 0 off, 1 on)
• autoplay starts with autoplay (values 0 off, 1 on)
• cover hides the cover image if its set (values 0 off, 1 on)
• block_size size of the waveform blocks (numberr, steps from 1 to 10, default is 2, works only if style is set to 2)
• block_space space size between the waveform blocks (integer, steps from 1 to 10, default is 1, works only if style is set to 2)
• liststyle only available on playlists or profile urls, this will display a list as single tracks buut works only if you provide value ‘single’. If you enter a profile uri from hearthis.at this listing is limited by 50 tracks.
• css string, should contain a valid uri that will load an additional css file link the link tag

IMPORTANT NOTE

This Version is now stable and provides also a fallback for some old hearthis Shortcode params.
So these params could also being used because they will passed to the their new names.

• color2 the old name of the hcolor property
• params a params string with the namend values
• digitized_size old name of the waveform block size (see block_size)
• digitized_space old name of the waveform block space (see block_space)

Embeds a track player with 500px width and hides the waveform and has the transparent_black theme. Remember this will change track height to 95 pixels.

Embeds a playlist or set with 400px height.

This is not a real option, its more like a hook and works only with playlists or profile urls.
So if you want to display a playlist or user profile as single tracks and not as a list you can set this option.
For users we limited this by 50 tracks. Does only take effect if the value single is inside the liststyle tag.

Installation

1. Download the Plugin and extract its content. You should see a folder named hearthisat or hearthis.
2. Upload the complete hearthisat folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
3. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
4. Now you are ready to go and you can place [hearthis] Shortcodes to your pages or articles

FAQ

What is with httpful Phar file?

With version 1.0.0 it’s removed!

This was included till version 0.6.5. If you use a former version,
you can update this library by downloading the latest phar file
from the [distributors website][4]. The latest integrated version we used was version 0.2.19.

Where I can get help?

Don’t Get Fooled!! It’s All A Come On!!

I hereby swear to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God!! I signed up for the premium hearthis account 3 weeks ago. I was enamored with the layout and I liked what I saw. In a matter of 2 weeks my opinion went from wow this is great too wow this really sucks. Here is why. The very first week I uploaded approximately 15 mixes for the Disco generation. Of course you know I’m a disc jockey. At the end of that first week that’s 7 days they came out with their ratings and this is something they do every week. Out of thousands of people who might be DJ’s, who might be music enthusiasts or just might be a person that listens to music, my reaction of what occurred was eye-opening and I really couldn’t believe it. In this ranking of the top 10 spots my mixes all different were listed in seven of those 10 spots including the number one spot. I said to myself wow that’s great but is it true, is it a come on. I found out 2 weeks later that it’s a major come on. The second week I uploaded a few more mixes and if I’m not mistaken I had two spots in the top 10. Now what I was wondering was how did I get seven spots in the top 10 and number one in the first week with being brand new to the site and having no reputation and no followers. Then the second week the numbers fell drastically. During the second week I invested a few extra dollars to have my mixes listen to to generate more followers. That’s one of the so-called services that they offer. You purchase euros with American dollars and you decide which mixes you want exposure for. Now that can get expensive because it’s 100 points per mix. So if you want to get exposure to all of those mixes you’ll probably spend $13. That doesn’t last that long. So you try again and you get the same results barely any increase in the number of listeners,plays,likes and reposts etc. Week three I decided I am not spending a penny and guess what happened the numbers plummeted. In some categories they went down to as low as zero. So here’s my point the come on was week one. Imagine having seven out of the 10 spots including number one. What would you think? Then you invest some money to get more exposure and you get barely any results. I understand that they have to keep the website afloat but to do it in such a shady manner is unfortunate. When I figured out what was going on I asked for a refund from my premium account. Do you think I heard back from Benedict? When I made an inquiry about the results of investing the money into more listeners Benedict gave me some sort of excuse that he would check it out with his staff. Do you think I got an answer? Simple answer no! Here’s my advice and you can take it for what it’s worth. Go in and join but don’t spend a penny. Download whatever you can and have a good time. If you are a disc jockey and looking for exposure chances are you’ll get some but not a lot. Keep your money in your pocket and keep your mind open and so the same goes for your eyes. It’s all a come-on. In closing this is my story and it’s the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God!

Use HTML embedding instead

I reported an issue with the height parameter not working: https://github.com/Andrew-Jenkins/wp_plugin_hearthis/issues/17 The HTML embedding works, so I will just use that. I thought this plugin might add some value in centrally defining defaults and making embedding quicker, but it does not work well for me. It says it has not been tested with my version of WordPress.
