Is vulnerable to Cross Site Scripting (XSS). Why no update?

The WordPress landscape is replete with plugins designed to enhance functionality, make tasks easier, and optimize your site. Among these, “PDF Viewer & 3D PDF Flipbook – DearPDF” has carved out a niche, offering both essential and inventive features that attract a myriad of users. However, while it offers great utility, it falls short in a crucial area: accessibility.
Firstly, let’s talk about the upsides. DearPDF provides a streamlined method for viewing PDFs directly on your website. It reduces the necessity of downloading files and opening them in external applications, improving the user experience significantly. The plugin is easy to install and set up, making it user-friendly even for those with less technical acumen.
The unique selling proposition of this plugin – the 3D Flipbook feature – certainly adds a layer of interactivity to document viewing. It provides a near-physical book reading experience in a digital format, giving your content a sense of depth and tangibility. This immersive feature helps to hold reader attention and potentially increase engagement.
Despite its impressive features, DearPDF is significantly hampered by its lack of keyboard accessibility. This is a significant drawback, especially in today’s digital age where inclusivity is a priority. The plugin, as it stands, does not cater to the needs of people with disabilities who rely on keyboard navigation for accessing digital content.
According to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), content on the internet should be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users. The lack of keyboard accessibility means that DearPDF is not fully operable for those with disabilities. This limitation makes it hard to recommend the plugin unequivocally, especially for businesses that take their social responsibilities seriously.
In conclusion, “PDF Viewer & 3D PDF Flipbook – DearPDF” is a potent WordPress plugin with innovative features that can significantly improve your site’s document handling capabilities. However, the glaring lack of keyboard accessibility detracts from its appeal and limits its user base.
With a hope for improvements in future updates, the plugin still has a long way to go to reach its full potential. Until then, it may be best suited for users not requiring comprehensive accessibility features. For those seeking a plugin that adheres to WCAG guidelines, you might have to look elsewhere for now. The developers of DearPDF need to prioritize this issue to make their plugin a truly inclusive tool.

I’ve been looking around and doing some testing and I feel like this is the best PDF viewer plugin for WordPress available today. The user interface is nice and clean and it seems to have all of the options that one might need. I’ve decided to purchase a lifetime license of the Pro version!
you can’t zoom in/out the pdfs with fingers on mobiles, so it could become really difficult to read texts with small letters.
