The plugin Ultimate Post List for WordPress gives you an easy-to-use toolbox to make lists of posts. You can insert the lists

• as widgets in every widget area per drag’n’drop easily
• via configurable shortcodes in every post content
• via calls of the function upl_print_list() in PHP code

You can switch between a vertical list layout or a responsive grid layout. A few options help you to get a nice layout without any need to code.

You can filter the posts by their post type “Post” or/and “Page” and by multiple categories. For filtering by custom post types check out Ultimate Post List Pro.

You can switch on a “Load more posts” link or button which loads further posts without leaving the page. Its text is controlled easily for you.

The plugin is multi-widget capable. That is, you can have several widgets of Ultimate Post List on your blog, each with its own settings!

You can clone (duplicate, copy) every list with a single click on the action link.

The plugin is available in English, German (Deutsch) and Greek (Ελληνικ?). It does not collect any personal data, so it is ready for EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance.

Useful hints for developers

Every Ultimate Post List offers you some IDs and class names to address the HTML elements with CSS. They are:

div.upl-list

is every Ultimate Post List.

div#upl-list-%d

is the list with %d as the list ID set by WordPress

li.upl-sticky

is every list item that contains a sticky post.

div.upl-post-thumbnail

is every container of a post thumbnail in the list.

is every post title in the list.

is every post date in the list.

Shortcode Attributes

To place a Ultimate Post List in the content of a post or page a shortcode is available. The shortcode keyword for this plugin is ultimate-post-list.

The attribute id with the ID of a published list is required. Otherwise there is no output.
Example: This shortcode prints the list of ID 48 as set on the List Edit page.
[ultimate-post-list id=”48″]

You can add some attributes to overwrite the respective settings of the list.

list_title
Sets the headline of the list. To remove a headline use an empty string.
Example: list_title="Your Site, Your Way"
Example: list_title=""

included_categories
Displays only posts of the categories specified by their IDs, slugs or names, separated by commas.
Example: included_categories="323,245,788"
Example: included_categories="lorem-ipsum,fringilla-mauris,dolor-sit-amet"
Example: included_categories="Lorem ipsum,Fringilla mauris,Dolor sit amet"

You can use specifiers of different types in a comma-separated list.
Example: included_categories="Lorem ipsum,245,dolor-sit-amet"

Example: [ultimate-post-list id="48" list_title="Your Site, Your Way" included_categories="News"]

Good support, but unable to use plugin

I was impressed with the stated capabilities of the plugin and more impressed with the reviews of the support received by other users. I was already committed to using the PODS plugin to define my CPT tables, but was having troubles making the UPL Pro plugin work with it. Martin responded to my support request quickly, however we amicably concluded that the two plugins were incompatible at this time. Martin’s service was prompt and professional.

Just wanted to say thanks for keeping your plugin updated. The free version of the Ultimate Post List works great. I had an issue with my WordPress theme’s latest Update because the “More” button stopped working, so I emailed Martin. Martin within a day or two fixed the issue! It’s a great simple post list plugin! Thank you for keeping up with the updates!

Lots of features, I had problems with cache

After I bought the premium version, the author helped me with my problem with some custom CSS. I truly appreciated that. This is VERY important and I only discovered this after hours of frustration – in order to see my changes, I had to *individually* delete my cookies. Simply CtrlF5 didn’t work for me. I have tested on Firefox, Chrome, and Opera. Obviously I tried deleting cache on the website level. It may be a conflict with my cloud and my WT3 Total cache settings. I never had to do this with on other plugins, though.
