With this extension, you can register shipments with PostNL and print the shipping labels with one push of a button. Moreover, your customers choose how they want to receive the order.

A PostNL API account is required for this plugin! Check out your API key in the Mijn PostNL business portal or contact your account manager.

Installation

Automatic installation

Automatic installation is the easiest option as WordPress handles the file transfers itself and you don’t even need to leave your web browser. To do an automatic install of PostNL for WooCommerce, log in to your WordPress admin panel, navigate to the Plugins menu and click Add New.

In the search field type “PostNL for WooCommerce” and click Search Plugins. You can install it by simply clicking Install Now. After clicking that link you will be asked if you’re sure you want to install the plugin. Click yes and WordPress will automatically complete the installation.

Manual installation via the WordPress interface

1. Download the plugin zip file to your computer
2. Go to the WordPress admin panel menu Plugins > Add New
3. Choose upload
4. Upload the plugin zip file, the plugin will now be installed
5. After installation has finished, click the ‘activate plugin’ link

Manual installation via FTP

1. Download the plugin file to your computer and unzip it
2. Using an FTP program, or your hosting control panel, upload the unzipped plugin folder to your WordPress installation’s wp-content/plugins/ directory.
3. Activate the plugin from the Plugins menu within the WordPress admin.

Setting up the plugin

1. Go to the menu WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping methods > PostNL.
2. Fill in your API key and Customer details. If you don’t have an API key request it in your Mijn PostNL Business Portal. Check out the instructions here.
3. The plugin is ready to be used!

Testing

We advise you to test the whole checkout procedure once to see if everything works as it should. Pay special attention to the following:

The PostNL plugin adds extra fields to the checkout of your webshop, to make it possible for the client to add street name, number and optional additions separately. This way you can be sure that everything is entered correctly. Because not all checkouts are configured alike, it’s possible that the positioning/alignment of these extra fields have to be adjusted.

Moreover, after a label is created, a Track & Trace code is added to the order. When the order is completed from WooCommerce, this Track & Trace code is added to the email (when this is enabled in the settings). Check that the code is correctly displayed in your template. Wat blijkt na velen uren proberen, de checkout blok wordt niet ondersteunt en dit is nergens terug te vinden op de site, documentatie of in de plugin.

Veel problemen en geen enkele support

Zoals eerder al omschreven door anderen, dit was een perfecte plug-in. De nieuwe versie is best oké, ik snap de gedachtegang. Maar het is nu een zeer onnodige en omslachtige manier van werken geworden. Kan me haast niet voorstellen dat er onderzoek bij gebruikers is gedaan… Ik hoop dat de backlog vol staat met nuttige oplossingen (vraag het eens aan ons gebruikers) en dat ze snel worden uitgevoerd!

Met de vorige versie konden we nog wel uit de voeten. Met deze update gaan we terug naar het stenen tijdperk. Alles weer handmatig, foutgevoelig, half werkend, omslachtig. Deze update kost extra tijd en geld om alle orders te verwerken. Balen dat dit zo moet. Je zou verwachten dat het met een update beter zou worden.

Dubbel huisnummer fout blijft bestaan

Steeds een dubbel huisnummer op de verzendzegel en dus ook op de automatische factuur! Dit werkt dus echt heel slecht, is een keer gerepareerd in een update maar nu weer hetzelfde probleem. Ondanks dat PostNL in hun reclames en artikelen wil doen geloven dat het nu ook kleine ondernemers help met automatische adresverificatie maakt juist HUN Plug-in er een verkeerd adres van. Support is slecht te vinden, reageert niet of na een hele lange tijd. Doe hier alsjeblieft snel iets aan, want verder werkt de plugin prima maar op deze cruciale punten niet.

Volgens mij is nu de support voor de oude versie komen te vervallen? Bij mij wordt de oude versie automatisch geupdatet. Opnieuw bizarre gang van zaken zonder enige notice als dit zo is.
