false redirection

    i recently added the polylang plugin on a website, and did all the requirements to create different languages. I putted the language switcher on the menu, and checked also the options to show languages according to the browser preferences. And the issue is that when we go to the website from a normal web search it always show the english version of the site, despite the main language is french.If we are on the english version and if we delete the /en from the url, it stay on the english version.
    the french version is the normal url without language extension (no /fr but only .com)
    Can you please help me on this, as all settings seem correct.
    Is there something to do with the htaccess file or something?

    hello
    the client finaly downgraded the version of the website to a previous version (on wp engine) so you cannot see the issue on the link provided. I still need your help as the site have to be live with polylang. The user gets on the english version despite the default language is french. Can you please give me an answer and tell me what to do..i saw there were other people with same issue and no answer too..please i need your help and advices
