Unabashed Request for a Hand-holding, Step-By-Step Tutorial

Could someone please do me a huge favor and list a step-by-step sequence of instructions that would show me how to use the FacetWP plugin?

I am trying to set up an online sporting goods store, so, on the ‘Shop’ page, I simply want to set up the plugin so customers can search for products from about 28 different sports, using the FacetWP plugin.

I have tried to figure out how to use the plugin by watching the tutorial videos and by reading the ‘how-to’ articles found on the plugin’s website, but I’m just not knowledgeable enough to do it by myself, even though I have tried many times over the last month.

I contacted the plugin’s author and he was kind enough to actually take the time to set up the basic filter on my website; such amazing customer support!–and he did it immediately after my request for help. I can’t say enough good about how great the support at the FacetWP website is.

However, I now don’t want to bother him with yet another such request. What I would like to know is how to go through the process, myself, of making each facet and template, then putting them together, to make fully-functional faceted filter for my website.

Since I am not a knowledgeable programmer, I need a truly plain-language, step-by-step, detailed set of instructions for setting the filter up, without there being any assumption that I know how to perform any particular step; i.e., a real hand-holding, ‘dummy-proof’ set of instructions from beginning to end. It is so hard to find tutorials that are truly written for a beginner, such as myself, rather than being written in abbreviated form (i.e, not missing a single step) and/or using jargon understandable only to non-beginners.
