I did not like the original translation of a plugins language, so I created a copy of the translation under a new custom language, and edited it to my linking.

However, Loco Translate keeps using the original (my sites language) translation.
How do I force the plugin to use my custom translation, without changing my sites whole language?

I did not like editing directly to the original language, because whenever the plugin would receive an update the language would reset and I would lose all changes.

Thank you in advance for the attention and advice. Much love!

See FAQ: Why don’t translations load from the custom folder?

I can only investigate your specific case if you post a download link to the plugin you’re translating and an example string for testing.

    I’m sorry.
If I wish to switch the plugin translation, and only the plugin translation, between existing translations (official plugin translations), how would I do it?

You would do it the way you have done it. You are quite correct to create your own custom files. Loco Translate’s custom location is designed specifically to do what you need. That’s well documented in this guide.

If it’s not working and the FAQ hasn’t helped, then please provide the information I asked for. Otherwise I can’t tell you what’s wrong with your plugin.

The plugin is a paid version which is sent to you after purchase, there is a demo version but I can’t be sure it works the same way as the paid one.

What do you mean by a string? Do you mean the translation? here is the one I am trying to use.

There is no support for commercial products on this forum.

As the link I posted above says “The most likely cause is that the product isn’t internationalized to WordPress standards.”

If you can demonstrate a bug in Loco Translate then I will fix it. However, your problem is more likely a flaw in your plugin, so please ask for support from the plugin vendor.

I understand Tim, thank you for the attention once again,
but there Is something that I can’t wrap my head around.

The plugin comes with its own Loco translation files for several languages.
I still don’t understand how would I switch between them.
Loco translate seems to be taking my websites locale and applying that translation to everything, plugins, themes…

So you’re asking about changing language now? Rather than changing between sets of translations in the same language?

The language of your site is in your WordPress settings and not controlled by Loco Translate at all. See How to set your WordPress language.

Thank you Tim. I believe this helped me figure out what the problem was.

When Creating a new custom translation, I was giving the language a custom name, as if it was a different language name. By just creating a copy of the original language but in a different location, the plugin is now using the new translation, and since it is in a different folder I believe that now plugin updates won’t override my translation.

Thank you once again for the attention and advice.
