    First of all…. great plugin!!!!!!!!!!

I have no issues at the moment. But I do have a question.

I am using the shortcode to query a database and then listing content.

Does Collapse-O-Matic actually query the database listing “before” the shortcode is clicked?

Just wondering if when my initial page loads is a database query being done? Or is the database only queried when I click on the shortcode.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hello and happy to hear you like the plugin.
    The plugin works like this:

The database is being queried, the content is inserted, then once the page is loaded, the content is collapsed. This is done so that the ‘collapsed’ content is included when search engines index your page.

Now this might not be the case if the shortcode is included on a page that is dynamically being loaded via AJAX, but that’s a different issue.

    Does that make sense?

    Thank you. That makes sense.

Any option to NOT insert the listing before being clicked and still behave the same?

Stupid me. I guess I could have looked at the page source. All the content is there ??

The option to not insert the content on the page would not be possible with the expand shortcode alone… however we would be happy to add this functionalty to the collapse-commander add-on.

So basically, the collapse content would not be included on the page until the first time the element is expanded, then the content is dyncmailally inserted via an AJAX call.

What do you envision happening once the expand element is again collapsed? Should the content be removed/reloaded, or stay? Regardless, it’s an interesting idea. If you go pro, hit us up on the support channel and we’ll get something for you to test.

My reasoning for the concern was that I was trying to reduce the database queries. Not everyone will click on the Collapse-O-Matic shortcode.

A simpler solution may be to simply move my database listing to a page of its own.

In any case, thanks for the support.

If you ever incorporate the AJAX call method, I would think you probably should allow both techniques when collapsed — in my case, I would probably use the “stay” option. Others may want a complete reload.
