woocommerce wi

I’ve tried installing woocommerce with twenty seventeen theme. (I just want to sell a small number of products, not a big shop as such)
Doesn’t seem to work. It allows me to add products but no sign of an ‘add to basket’ button or shopping cart etc. and says out of stock even though product is set as in stock. what am I doing wrong?? (Im fairly new to wordpress) thanks
