Image upload WITHOUT resize?

I’m trying to upload several images that are very wide. Every time I do, wordpress “crunches” them do, cropping them to images that are smaller in width and deleting the outside content at the same time. How do I prevent it from doing this? Is there something I can check that will have wordpress resize the image rather than crop it?
