Is ‘Website Alternative Name’ ever used?

    Hi,
    On the ‘Your Info/Company Info’ tab of the Yoast Dashboard I entered an alternative website name in the ‘Alternative Name’ field. However when I check the html of my website pages I can’t find the text of the ‘Alternative Name’. Is this because the theme requires an ‘Alternative Name’ tag defined or is this option redundant?
    Any information regarding this would be much appreciated.

    The ‘Alternative Name’ field is output in the source code of your website like so:

    I found that the Plugin WPSSO I had installed was causing the issue, removing “alternateName” from the html.
