The next version of the ABTF plugin will be a collection of optimization modules that can be used both stand alone and as a combination of plugins with single plugin performance.

There are currently several modules missing to replace the old ABTF plugin so for now it would only be an option to use the new optimization modules together with the ABTF plugin for a complete functionality, while this would not result in the best performance.

We expect that the 2 main missing modules will be available next week. They will be beta plugins (a public test version) but it will be possible to replace the old ABTF plugin and disable/remove it.

It is not yet certain if/when the plugins will be published on www.ads-software.com (this depends on WordPress). The plugins will be available on Github as soon as they are available.

    Just a note:

I hope you will consider not removing certain functions from the plugin as it is when you phase-in the new modules.

One thing that sticks out in my mind at the moment is that the new CSS module differs in that the option to load CSS in the footer is no longer available, replaced with timed delay.

The problem with this is that not all browsers process DOM manipulation the same way or follow the instruction to delay parsing the same way, whereas all browsers do in fact process CSS loaded in the footer the same way. It seems clear that the option to load CSS in the footer was removed from the new CSS module since timed delay and load-in-footer should — in theory — be capable of producing the same results in the wild. They do not.

Short version: It would be great if you would keep all of the current functionality available plugin-wide and add the new features on top of an already great schema.

Super short version: Don’t fix what ain’t broken! ??

    Hi AJ,

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

The old ABTF plugin will remain as it is and the new plugins will be able to replace it by selecting and installing the required optimization modules, which will then start to provide the functionality while the ABTF plugin can be disabled and removed.

In regards to loading scripts in the footer, it is correct that the ABTF plugin uses a inline script in the footer to initiate script and stylesheet loading before domready and the timed loading feature in the new plugin uses a domready event.

We will add the option to initiate script and stylesheet loading from the footer using an inline script.

If you have more suggestions please let us know!

The footer load option has been added in the latest update.

The PWA / Service Worker optimization plugin has been submitted to www.ads-software.com. It is already available on Github.

We are looking forward to more feedback and feature requests!

    Wonderful, folks. Thanks ??

Is this plugin no longer available? What’s replaced it?

Yeah, it’s been removed by WordPress I guess. Real bummer! This was a great plugin and the new modules are great. In about a half hour I took my Pagespeed score from 81 to 99 on mobile and 79 to 94 on desktop. There is some silly feud I guess between the developers and WordPress. Totally unneeded, WordPress needs to leave these guys alone. From what I read it seems like Google has their hands in it. Once again the little guy loses out.
