• Hello,

I am a WP noob, but I have gotten my site to work fairly well so far. I wanted to know how to go about changing the sidebar (using iNove theme). How do I add or delete items like blogrolls, posts, tag clouds and so on. How do I rename side bar items, if I dont like ‘Blogroll” and want to call it something else.

Also I want my site to distinct sections like a section for articles and one for tutorials. What WP tools do I use to organize that? Do I use catagories?

    And what are slugs?

    Mike

The easiest ways is to go to
    admin – Appearance – Widgets
There you can remove/add sections – edit the names and so forth
or you can do it manually by working with the theme’s sidebar.php etc.
Saying you are a noob I would look at 1st option.

That would be an excellent way to do it and then post to those categories.

    Dear Samboll,

Thank you for your help. I think this is the third time you have replied to my questions.

I am a bit confused this time though. The iNove theme has items already in the sidebar like tags, random posts and categories. But when I go to the Widgets in Appearance it says that no widgets are installed. You can see what I mean at https://www.delaflor.com, look at the sidebar.

Yes – almost all themes come with pre-disposed links to various things.
Don’t worry – the minute you add widgets – these links all disappear and only the widgets you select will show in the sidebar(s).

the north, south, east, and west thing referst to top, bottom, left, and right I suppose….

So in the iNove theme I would install widgets only in the “west” or right sidebar since that is the only area that has a side bar.

    Thanks again,

    Mike

I think I nove also has a footer area that is considered a sidebar
    just play around
    you can undo anything
