WordPress multisite redirects to homepage

  • Hi! I currently setting up a personal website with WordPress and I’m having redirecting issues which I am not sure if it’s caused by my host (currently running on a free webhost service) or if I configured the multisite incorrectly.

    https://siteurl.com/ -> main site, for professional use
    https://siteurl.com/works -> part of multisite for personal use

    There is no problem accessing the dashboard of any multisite, and the permalinks are ok. The problem is that I noticed that if I go to https://siteurl.com/works, it redirects to https://siteurl.com/ automatically for the first time. If I go to https://siteurl.com/works for the second time, there is no problem. It happens every session I think.

    If I go to https://siteurl.com/something/archive/etc/ it still goes to https://siteurl.com/ if you access for the first time per session.

    Another thing that may help is that I installed WordPress on a subdirectory called /wp/, which is possibly a problem with htaccess?

    How do I solve this issue? It seems like I am the only one encountering this issue so I have another suspicion that it’s a problem with my host.
