• Hi,

I really love the plugin and the AMP pages it produces – but I have one question: starting at 25th of May 2018 the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) takes effect. This regulation prohibits the storing/exchanging of IP addresses which is usually done with getting the Users avatar (for comments) and most of the share buttons behave that way that the Users IP address is already sent to social networks on page load.

Could you please confirm if social sharing with the AMP plugin is done in that way that the Users IP address is already sent to the social network on page load? Or only after the User explicitly clicks the sharing-button?

And is it somehow possible to deactivate the loading of the Gravatars for commentors?

Thanks a lot in advance! Appreciate this plugin really very much and I really hope that it complies with the GDPR-requirements.

    Best regards,
    Tao

    Hi @tao7 Tao,

We would love to make it GDPR compliant, but it’s complex though.

Do you know of anyone who has implemented GDPR yet?

    Hi,

for sharing apparently https://de.www.ads-software.com/plugins/shariff/ – at least in the description they write that they are compliant with data protection policy.

And adding a setting to deactivate the using of the gravatar-user-image is probably a smaller enhancement.

    Thank you!

    Hi @ahmedkaludi,
did you have time to check if the sharing-buttons you use in the plugin are compliant with new GDPR? Or do you have an update whether this will be implemented?
    Thank you!
    Tao

    Hi,
as I see it, the “normal” sharing buttons in AMP are only links, like the shariff-buttons – so no problem.
(shariff meanwhile supports this AMP Plugin, so you could use shariff instead of the build-in sharing-buttons).

So the only problem is gravatar…

    Greetings
    Heike
