    Hello again,

when I first installed the theme, I saw a starting page with a sort of widget where we could pull out different pages/post into different sections.
I must have deleted it by mistake.
Is there a way I can recover this template without having to reinstall the theme and child theme? (all my work is being created on the child theme)…
It would be great to use this model to help me out on the starting page/ home page.

    Thanks.
    Sonia

  • Hi there,
actually the frontpage is a the blog page! So you will need to select your Latest Posts from Settings->Reading to get the same home as the demo.
Please have a look at the theme’s documentation here https://www.cssigniter.com/docs/olsen-light it has all the info you need to get started with the theme.
Let me know if you get stuck somewhere.

    Hi Fotis.
    Again thanks for the reply.
I did follow the documentation to install the theme and sample files.
This is not what I am looking for but I am not able to explain better… In the beginning I did see a page with widget spaces (I could drag different pieces to each block)…different pages and different blog posts…
Anyway, for what you say we can only have a blog page if it is the starting page?
What if I want a starting page that gives an overview of my blog and then a blog page where people can browse the latest blogs (like the starting page you point me too)?
Anyways, I am going to try to do what I want with images and text in between.
    Cheers,
    Sonia

    Hello once more,

I still tried to get the themes “Home” page as per your suggestion.
I do not get the slider show, nor do I get a “home” page… even though when I click on the logo I do go to a “new” page with all the posts.
    Questions:
    1) my “home” page does not have a slider… I still think I deleted some file that I had imported from the template and template demo. Can I recover it?
    2) this home page does not really exist, right? it is just automatically created when we select that we start off with a collection of blog posts, right?

    Thanks for the clarification.
    Cheers,
    Sonia

    Hi there,
    1. if you want your slider to actually show on a static page, which eventually will serve as your frontpage check this (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/olsen-light-front-page/)
    2. The homepage is your blog page, which by default is showing as your frontpage in Olsen light. You can change that from Settings->Reading.

Let me know if this works

Yes. Fotis. The settings –> reading is working fine. Thanks again for that tip.

    Glad I could help!!

    ?? I failed and don’t know why…?
    1) Settings–> Reading OK. I get the front-page / home page with all the blogs listed
    2) the <? php if (is_front_page() ){
on the header.php … did not give me the slider ??

This time I made the change on the actual theme file.
I still think that I deleted something by mistake when I imported the sample files and sample wizzards…
wanted to try to re-install the theme.
I have created a child and am working off the child. Do you think if I re-install both I loose all the work and extra css you have been so kindly providing me?
Or is there a way around this?

BTW I used my cPannel, code editor and the file was successfully saved.

Also, I have disabled the featured image from the posts with the css code you showed me . But it is now not showing on this front summary/home page or on the widget side bar “other posts”… Could this also be a reason for the slider not to be working?

My mistake. I can get both a static page and a blog page from
    Settings–>Reading –> static page

    Glad you worked this out!
