    I suspect that if the power failure were on your computer, rather than the server, you may have some corrupt files that need to be repaired/restored.

    the power outage was both my pc and the server (two separate machines)

    my server reported file system errors and required me to run a file system scan before booting into turnkey lamp. the scan appeared to find two errors and corrected them both.
