If you didn’t make those modifications through a Child Theme then it would have been erased when the theme updated.

However, other people have been achieving excerpts through the use of the <!– more –> tag: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-properly-use-the-more-tag-in-wordpress/

    please clarify:

my posts excerpts have been turned off.

does that mean you are getting the full post now, or nothing?

    this is no more useful.

does this mean you have added the same code into the new updated theme, and it is not working as before?

are you actually using a child theme?
    are you using handwritten excerpts?

@andrew! Thanks for sharing this. I ‘ll try incorporating Read more tags and see the result.

@michael! I am getting the full posts instead of excerpts. I was using the code mentioned above, but not in child theme so after the update, it has been all erased and when I tried pasting the code again, it is not working and showing he excerpts. Yes! I used to write excerpts myself in the excerpt box.

you don’t seem to have an index or posts page in your site.

however, it seems that you are now using the ‘more tag’, because when viewing one of the category (business) archive pages, I see all shortened posts …

    tried pasting the code again

your site is cached – did you flush or clear the cache after these edits?

Yes I always clear cache after every edit.
Now I have inserted the read more tags.
Also I add posts into respective categories so they can be found on category pages. Kindly recommend if this is the right way or not.
