It works, after…
-
Getting this to work was a real challenge. I had a much easier time 2 or 3 years ago with an older version of this. This version finally did work well, after... The Migration tool installed from the WP Plug link worked to Export just fine, although it took a bit to pay attention to where the file was. .. the tool did not work to Import! First, the WP database was restricted at 32MB, and I had 134 MB to import. This was finally corrected with the fix to the .htaccess file as ServMask suggests… php_value upload_max_filesize 128M php_value post_max_size 128M php_value memory_limit 256M php_value max_execution_time 300 php_value max_input_time 300 ...I changed the 126M to 256M in both instances. Second, I found somewhere that an Extension was needed… this was not really very clear at all, it seemed like an either – or thing… NOPE! Get at - https://import.wp-migration.com/ The requires a file download and upload into your WP into Plugins. … AND the Tool. … Yes, after some trial and error. Finally figuring out it was not one or the other, IT REQUIRED BOTH THE TOOL AND THE EXTENSION TO IMPORT. ...both installed in WP Plugins. NO CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS ON THIS FOUND ANYWHERE! Then, clicking on Import went quickly, after about 3 hours! So, my review… it works well after you can get through the mystery. It feeds my theory that the people who can get such tech things to function as they do, don’t know how to tell the rest of us.
