Just upgraded my WordPress blog which now reads:
    Not Found

Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.

Additionally, when I click “site admin” the resulting page is totally blank.

What am I missing here? Or what have I screwed up?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/help.

  • looks like a brand new install
    how did you upgrade?

It’s happened to me before and for the life of me I can’t remember what I did to fix it. A couple of things come to mind though

~Did you overwrite the original config.php file? If so then you will need to re make the new one.
~Did you run the upgrade.php to update your database yet?
~Did you upload all the correct directories/files in Binary mode? Sometimes that makes a difference.
~Did you back up your database… just in case? Probably won’t need it but always a good idea.

Not a new install; followed the upgrade instructions per WordPress. Ran the upgrade.php. Unfortunately, blew off the backing up of my database (what was I thinking?), however, I don’t think I need to from what I’ve bean reading. My blog was sort of….static.

I believe my config.php file is correct (all the necessary names, passwords, etc.). Now about Binary mode – well, I’m not sure. How would I check that out?

Binary is a transfer setting on your ftp. Usually it’s set to ‘auotomatic’ and sometimes it’s necessary to set a transfer up as binary. But truth be told I don’t think I’ve ever changed the setting when I’ve upgraded my blogs.

Another thing I have learned is to ‘delete’ the wp-admin and wp-includes directories instead of just over writing them. The other files I simply overwrite them.

Try actually deleting the wp-admin and wp-includes directory and upload a new pair. Then run the upgrade again.

    …worth a shot.

Thanks, MrMarco; I’ll try those things and report back (it will take me a while, though)

As suggested, deleted wp-admin and wp-includes and then uploaded new files – instead of just over-writing.

I believe I’m good to go now. Thanks so much for the help!

no problem Towardvt. Glad I could help.

Maybe set this as “resolved” so others will know there’s an answer when they do a search.
