Will an MU Theme work on a 2.7.1 installation?

    Hello,

    I am a complete newbie with WordPress, so do please forgive what to most of you will be a very basic question.

    I recently installed WordPress version 2.7.1 on my website host’s server. I began with a basic free theme that I came across on the web, but only a few days in to my WordPress experience I have decided that I would like something a little different. So, I have been looking around tonight and came across a theme that I particularly like, and which would be suitable for me.

    I have only just noticed that it it is an MU theme. Will it work on a version 2.7.1 installation, or shall I have go back and look again?

    Sorry the question is perhaps a simple one to most of you, but I wouldn’t want to pay for something only to find it would not work.

  • What is the theme (a link to it would really help)? Most themes can be used universally with a regular WP install, or a WPMU install. The one catch is a regular theme normally will not have Links and such setup for “Blog Registration” or a list of blogs available from the WPMU site. Since a regular WP install doesn’t need those links, a WPMU theme should work, and just not display that information. As I said, a link to the theme would help to better answer your question.     Thanks for the quick reply Phenix. I can hear you saying now why didn’t you ask the question on the Theme author’s site, but hey ho, I only thought about that after I had posted the message here.

    By the way I am giving it a test drive on Brian’s site (a great offer don’t you think? – sort of try before you buy).

    I really would be most appreciative for your advice.

    Now call me stupid, or call me stupid, but I have just checked that the link I put in my reply works ….. and what did I see? Only this – “Compatible up to: WP 2.7.1”

    I guess that I should have looked first before I panicked!!
