Before I install this can you please confirm that the plugin either is currently or will be compliant with GDPR before the regulation is enforceable?

  • I am not at all familiar with GDPR to be honest, I don’t know what the requirements are at this point.

Actually just received an email on this topic:

GDPR: On May 25, 2018, a new European Union (EU) data protection law, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), takes effect. The GDPR gives individuals in the EU more control over how their data is used and places certain obligations on businesses that process information of those individuals. We’ve updated our Privacy Policy to take into account the new requirements of the GDPR.

After researching this, I have found that WordPress itself is developing a tool that will be in the core of WordPress in version 4.9 that will help sites be GDPR compliant. It will allow plugins like Sunshine to hook into it and I will be implementing that for Sunshine likely as part of version 2.7.

Time is getting on concerning this matter.

Is it possible to simply add a checkbox and a link to site’s privacy policy at the checkout to say that they have read and agree to the privacy policy?

I just released Sunshine 2.7 last night which addresses GDPR.

The ability to add a checkbox for a privacy policy at checkout has always been available.
