I am new to WordPress and have just created my first blog: site.escapadedirect.com/blog2. I am using WordPress 2.3.3 through Yahoo web hosting. I have downloaded and am using the Atahualpa 3 theme.

I am experiencing a problem I cannot solve and haven’t been able to find any information through the forum search. I am desparate to get this issue fixed as soon as possible, and am hoping someone on this forum has a solution.

Within the current theme, I added a Recent Posts, Categories, and Archive widget to the sidebars. These areas appear on the blog and they have content links listed beneath the headings. However, if you click a link within these sidebars, an empty page appears. The blank page does not display an error message – it is just completely blank. Also, if you click the Blog page and then click on one of the blog entry titles in the middle of the page, an empty page appears again. I also noticed that when I use the Dashboard to write a new post and click the Preview button before publishing, another blank page appears.

Obviously something is not right and I cannot seem to figure out what is wrong.

I have not installed any additional widgets, other than the default widgets that are activated. I deactivated all the widgets to see if this would clear the problem – it did not.

I have the Front Page set as a static page, with Front Page set to Home; and Posts Page set to Blog. This is the only option I have changed from default within the Options tab of the Dashboard. I have not modified the theme “programming” in any way.

I am new to WordPress and am not a programmer. I have spent over a dozen hours trying to solve this problem, but am running out of ideas.

Could someone please take a look at this blog to see if you know what the problem is? I appreciate any help in getting this resolved.

    Thank you!
    JD

  • Try resetting permalinks to default
    admin – settings – permalinks
    test if links then work
if so, try switching back to desired

out of curiosity – why are you using ver. 2.3.3?

Thanks for the advice – I really appreciate it. I just tried the default permalink, as well as numeric and the blank pages are still there. Any other ideas? I am desperate to get this fixed!

I’ve tried removing the Recent Posts, Categories, and Archive widgets from the sidebars, then adding them back to see if this would somehow resolve the issue – it did not.

Do I need to do something with the Pages to get these blog posts to show up? Currently, posts are set to Blog.

I read through the Atahualpa theme and it is compatible with 2.3.3 (even this is an old version).

We are using 2.3.3 because it is the latest version available through our Yahoo Web Hosting (which is where our ecommerce site is hosted). Apparently Yahoo updates this automatically when “they” feel there is a more stable version available – therefore, we cannot update to the newest version through the Yahoo update link.

Any additional advice is greatly appreciate!!! Thank you!

I solved my problem. Found an article on eHow, followed the directions, and my blank page issue is gone!

Could you share which article this was? I’m having the same problem!
