Import Feed Issue: Incorrect Times and Dates

What is your calendar’s timezone set to? Make sure it’s set under Events > Settings > Viewing Events tab > Timezone >

yes, it is set as “Detroit”

i also checked the “Display events in calendar time zone” box on the SETTING page and on the Import feed

still imports a day early at 11:00pm

It may be that the source calendar is not correctly specifying event timezone. Can you provide the public URL of the source calendar please?

i don’t have a public URL of the source calendar — i only have the iCal/Google feed

when i import it into my (own personal) Google calendar, the dates and times are as they should be

do you need the iCal/Google link?

I downloaded the resulting ICS file from that Google calendar feed to take a look at the date and time data.

This is an example of a snippet of a date/time stamp on an event (it’s the same for all events):

DTSTAMP;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20180507T044852Z

Notice that it ends in the letter “Z” — this means that the Google calendar is not specifying a timezone for the event, thus, the time it’s being given is in UTC timezone.

Relative to your own Timezone, if you import it into your Timely calendar, it will appear offset, even if you select the option “Convert event’s date/time to calendar’s timezone”, because it doesn’t know the event’s timezone, so there is nothing it can change, because it is in UTC timezone.

If you can, you should contact the Google calendar owner and ask him/her to specify the event timezone in the events you are importing.

We have a setting in our web app calendar which had a feature to correct his problem (but unforunately, not in our core plugin version).

I am unable to get any response from the source of the import calendar but here’s my final question:

when I import this same calendar into a Google calendar, everything looks fine (event dates & times) . . . why doesn’t it work with ai1c?

I’m not sure how Google calendar processes imported events in UTC timezone.

We have a feature in our web app calendar which gives the user the ability to force the event timezone, but unfortunately not in the Core — it is designed only to map the imported event time to the calendar’s local time, and this is dependant on the source event’s timezone and the local timezone.

is the PRO Calendar on the time.ly page the web app calendar?

if so, will it be able to use the events, categories, and tags that are currently being used in the core plugin that i use now?

is there an annual fee vs monthly?

Yes, it is a web app calendar.

Yes, you will be able to use teh same events (you can import them as a one time import), categories and tags that you are currently using now.

FYI: The Pro comes with 3 Import feeds, upgradeable via Eventboost addon ($10/month for 15 additional feeds if needed).

The web app calendars are based on monthly subscription costs ($9/month for the Pro).
