• Hi,

I like this plugin a lot and I am able to use the pages and widgets. But I’d like to display just one specific book into the content of one page. What would be the best way to create a shortcode that would allow me to display just one book using the same site-wide settings? Something like [showbook name=”book name”]? I tried to comb through the code, but I can’t find the actual output function so I can write a shortcode for it. Any help appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Iulian

  • As soon as you enter an actual Book, it creates a single page just for that book.

There’s no shortcode for this reason. It already creates the page for you by default. There’s a “view” link on the edit screen to view the single book page.

I have wanted to do this before, and I got around it using the “amr shortcode any widget” plugin. It’s here:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/amr-shortcode-any-widget/

This will create a new “widget area” under appearance –> widgets, where you can drag over the Genesis Author Pro widget and set it up to show the one book you want to feature. Then, that widget will be given a shortcode by the plugin, and you can use this shortcode on your page/post to feature the book.

There is a fancier one called “Widgets on Pages” that allows you to create multiple widget areas and then feature more than one book at a time, if that’s closer to what you need –> https://en-ca.www.ads-software.com/plugins/widgets-on-pages/

Is this for showing the single book on a page with other and different page content, more than the default page provided?

This is what it provides by default:

    https://demo.studiopress.com/author/book/life-itself/

    Your site name then /book/title-you-gave-book/
