Limit Search to Custom Post Type / Category

    Currently using SearchWP, so that we can have a site wide search but also searches on each topic page that only shows results based on that custom post type and or a particular category or tag.

    However search results are rather poor with all the various WordPress plugins free or paid versus Google. Is there any way with this plugin or another to utilize Google custom search, but to have multiple instances where limited to certain category/tag or custom post type? I’m assuming not, but wanted to ask.

    This plugin just includes Google Custom Search function into your WordPress site.
    Google Custom Search supports a site wide search, similarly to the google.com search. So, your search can not be divided into topics or custom post types.

    Maybe you can try to create multiple search engines in Google CSE console, and insert the search box of each search engine into the related page (topic or custom page). But I think it is very complicated, and custom development should be applied. This plugin does not support this kind of functionality. It is not a standard operation, so your users may not understand it.

    But Google is the best in search, so you will always get good quality results if you use site wide search.
