    Hello,

I’ve noticed Woocommerce has changed one of my products from a variable product to a simple product. The issue is it won’t allow me to select ‘variable product’ to change back. Please could someone advise? In fact I’m trying to add some more new products and it won’t allow me to make these products variable.

    All help much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Stacey

    Hi Stacey,

Would you mind elaborating on things in a bit more detail? Did this happen after a recent update? What are you seeing when clicking on the product type dropdown under Products > All Products > YOUR VARIABLE PRODUCT > Product Data?

Also, Are you still experiencing the same issue after deactivating all of your plugins (except WooCommerce) and switching to the default Twenty Seventeen theme?

    Hi RK,

Thanks so much for your reply.

My web guy deals with updates – could you advise how I can find out when the last update happened so I can advise you.

When I go to the product that has changed to a simple product, and when I go to add any new product I get the usual page layout including:

Product data – simple product (does not let me click on “simple product” drop down to select variable product)

Would you advise I deactivate all my plug ins except Woocommerce, then switching to the default Twenty Seventeen theme? Isn’t that a bit extreme to have to do that? Is that common practice and how I have to go about problems like this?

    Hi @ontheball1,

Thanks for your explanation! What you describe sounds like a JavaScript error triggered somewhere on the product page in WP Admin. To see if that’s the case here, please press Command + Option + I on Mac or the F12 key on Windows. Here is an example of what we’re looking for:

If there are some errors indeed, you can copy paste the whole error message here. Please also right-click on the small link in the top right corner of the error message, choose Copy Link and paste the content here as well:

If that doesn’t work out, we’ll need to check possible causes one by one by deactivating plugins and themes. If that’s a live site, you can create a test copy using the WP Staging plugin and run the test there.

    Cheers!

    Hey @ontheball1

Did you get to the bottom of this? Was there a conflict?

We haven’t heard back from you in a week, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – please do share any resolution with us as a reply to this thread.

    Thanks,

    Hi Dougaitken,

Please forgive my delay, I was planning on replying once I’d looked further into the issue.

Thank you Madeincosmos for your advice. I’ve looked into this further. Since I have a Samsung Tablet I headed to the library computers where I checked the issue. It seems the issue only happens on my device and I’m still none the wiser what the issue is.

    Many thanks again

    Stacey
