Trouble Uploading Pictures

Hi

I have been able to upload pictures for quite some time now. Recently I have had problems though. I keep getting the following error message:

Unable to create directory /home/.dom/surveymethod/public_html/datingblog/wp-content/uploads/2009/03. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I have tried changing my security settings in my ftp from 755 to 777 but it doesn’t work. Why isn’t my site letting me upload pictures. Your thoughts please.
