  • Hi @travelographer,

How can I disable Jetpack to download SVG graphics I don’t use at all

I’m not sure what you mean here, where is Jetpack downloading these .svg graphics?

Why is the WordPress Stats tracker still active on certain pages, although I deactivated it in the settings.

I’ve checked the source code for page you linked to but I can’t see any indication that Jetpack’s Site Stats Tracker is active. What are you seeing to suggest it is?

    Thanks!

    Hi @gemmaevans,

Thank you for your fast response.

I use Ghostery and uBlock Origin to detect third party content and tracker. The html detected on search pages looks like that:

    <img src="https://pixel.wp.com/boom.gif?v=0.9&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.travelography.de&json=%7B%22beacons%22:%5B%22jetpack.search.mysql.duration:72%7Cms%22,%22jetpack.search.mysql.duration:1%7Cms%22%5D%7D" alt=":)" width="1" height="1" />

And I have no clue why it is added only on search result pages.

    Thanks
    Travelographer

It’s possible that the search engines have not yet crawled the site again to update with the most recent version of the site. I’d say let’s give it some time for that to update.

There is most definitely no stats tracking currently active on the pages themselves.

    I hope that helps!

    Hi @tmmbecker,

    Thanks for your answer.

It’s already a few weeks ago that I’ve deactivated WP Stats. I also deactivated caching on my website ..

In addition this issue is reproducable. When I rename the jetpack plugin folder, the issue is gone. When I name it back, the issue occurs again.

For me it seems that Jetpack collects user data without consent.

How can I disable Jetpack to download SVG graphics I don’t use at all – e.g.:
    https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/2.4/svg/…
    https://s.w.org/favicon.ico?2

Those SVG files are not added by Jetpack, but by WordPress itself. They are used to display emoji in legacy browsers that do not support Emoji out of the box. If you’re not familiar with Emoji, here are a few! ?? ??

If you don’t use Emoji on your site, you can disable them with this plugin:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/disable-emojis/

If you think loading those files from a third-party server (www.ads-software.com) is an issue with the GDPR, I would recommend that you chime in with your comments on this Trac ticket, where core WordPress contributors are currently discussing this issue:
    https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/44001

Why is the WordPress Stats tracker still active on certain pages, although I deactivated it in the settings.

That is indeed a known issue with Jetpack, currently tracked here:
    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/9183

Until the problem is solved, I would recommend that you deactivate the “Search” and the Sharing features in the Jetpack settings on your site.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi @jeherve

Thanks for your competent answer and pointing out that not all reported issues are Jetpack related.

Until the problem is solved, I would recommend that you deactivate the “Search” and the Sharing features in the Jetpack settings on your site.

Unfortunately, deactivating both features didn’t solve the issue.

I do indeed still see the pixel on your site, although the Search feature is disabled. I’ll edit the issue I linked to earlier, because the bug is more important than I expected at first: the pixel is added even when the Search feature is disabled. We’ll see that this gets fixed as soon as possible. Until then, you will indeed need to deactivate Jetpack.

    Thanks for the report!
