User Submitted Links ?

    Is there any way to create a process where users can “submit” links that get added in a “draft” status and then get posted.

    I am thinking of something like “User Submitted Posts”, but for “User Submitted Links” that would then go into a ‘draft’ status and then let an admin either approve them or discard them.

    We have a site where we let users submit articles (article name, title, author, reference, excerpt, link) and then post it to a page that is a big “resource list” of articles. We are using user submitted posts in WordPress, but they have to register for the site, and a post is really much more then we need. Was thinking that if there was some way to leverage this plugin, it may be a simpler process.

    Hi Michael,

    I am not aware of an existing implementation of this specifically for links. I can’t imagine it would be that hard to build, but I haven’t heard of anything.

    That being said… Simple Links are a custom post type so theoretically any plugin/theme which support user submitted custom posts could be setup to generate links. The trick would be handling all the custom fields which links support.

    Thanks so much for the response.
    And the fact that User Submitted Links is a “custom post type” may make this possible..
    I am looking at the ‘User Submitted Posts” plugin, and the “pro” version of this plugin supports custom post types and custom fields.. so maybe I can just use the “user Submitted Posts” to create a “draft” post type of “User Submitted Links”, and then when approving them, they get created… will need to do some playing-around, but seems that it may be possible…

    If I get it working, will let you know.
