Change number of columns in ?Recent Post“ section

  • Hi there,

    I‘m currently looking for a good theme for my blog and just tried out Elara.
    I really like it but was wondering about one thing: My front page seems a bit crowed with three columns of recent posts in a row. Is it possible to change the number to only to columns?

    Also: I‘m not sure if this is a theme question but is it possible to change the text in the search widget (the box where it says ?Search“ and especially the ?Search“ button)? I’d like to change the language as my blog isn’t in English.

    Hope you are having a great day and thanks for contacting us!

    Our theme demo here https://demo.lyrathemes.com/elara/ shows two different areas, with 4 and 2 columns, so I’m not sure where you have 3 columns per row. Could you share your URL so I can see this first hand?

    Regarding the Search text in your language, that’s not a theme feature, but you could add a multilanguage plugin, or just localize your install to your language.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    I solved my problem regarding the search box by changing the text in the editor (functions.php).

    I don’t know why but I have three columns where your demo has four. My URL is https://keinezeitfuerlangeweile.de.
    I can’t find an option to change that in the customizer.

    Hi @charlios315,

    This is because you have your blog as your frontpage instead of the theme frontpage. Make sure to go to WP Admin > Settings > Reading, and select “show latest posts” and not a specific page (I know it sounds like the opposite I’ve explained, but just give it a try).

    Now I’m a bit confused. I already have my settings at ?show latest posts“. And still I can only change the number of posts in each column for the featured categories (which I don’t use) but not for the most recent posts.
