  • Hello,

If you are running the free version of Wordfence, it will automatically fetch an API key, there is no need to update it.

    Hi

I am using a premium version but when plugin is updated to new version I am not able to update my api key

The API keys do not change when updating WF versions… if a premium key was there before, it still is there after an update.

    Hi

I am getting an error saying:
The Wordfence Web Application Firewall cannot run. The configuration files are corrupt or inaccessible by the web server, which is preventing the WAF from functioning. Please verify the web server has permission to access the configuration files. You may also try to rebuild the configuration file by clicking here. It will automatically resume normal operation when it is fixed.

    How to fix this issue

    Hi @dmishra

    Please try the followings:
    – Click on “here” in the statement “You may also try to rebuild the configuration file by clicking here” and let me know what happened.

    – Try to delete this folder (/wp-content/wflogs/) then reconfigure the firewall again.

    – Make sure that “wflogs” folder has the correct reading/writing permissions and its owner is the same as the web server user in place. (you can confirm that with your web host).

If none of these helped, then please open a new support thread regarding this specific question and I’ll follow up with you there.

    Thanks.

    Hi @dmishra,
Since we haven’t heard from you for a while I’m going to go ahead and resolve this thread. If you have any other questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to open a new one.

If you are a premium customer you can also submit a support request via https://support.wordfence.com.

    Thanks!
