Upload directly to S3 rather than on server first

I agree with this. When you’re low on space, having all files created before the upload occurs is an issue. I’ve had to move sites to other hosts because of this issue.

@jbattin, looking into this: https://cloud.netapp.com/blog/amazon-s3-as-a-file-system . Manual work but would be a solution for now.

UpdraftPlus has been designed to create the backups first on your local server and then sends it to your remote storage. You can also set UpdraftPlus to remove the local backups after it is sent to your remote storage. The option can be found the UpdraftPlus ‘Settings’ tab > ‘Show Expert Settings’ > ‘Delete Local backups’

@bcrodua, I think both I and @jbattin are aware of that, what we’re asking is a the ability to directly upload to remote storage without it storing locally first. A mirror copy of the entire site on the server can be rather large which is part of the reason why I need to use remote storage.

I’m afraid it is not possible to send the backups directly to your remote storage. UpdraftPlus has to zip the files first on your local server and make sure that the backups are complete before it sends the backups.

Hey @bcrodua – well it is possible, it’s just that it seems I’ll have to mount and simlink the Updraft folder to offsite storage.
