I am trying to understand the 404 results. Do you think these are the bots you mentioned? What do I do about these? Thank you!!

  • You are missing icon components on your site. When a regular user goes to your site and those components are not available you will get a 404 on your reports.

Here is a link that will help you with this. Type in your web site address and it will tell you what icons and favicons you are missing.

    Wow, thank you so much.

Are those 404s considered a problem by Google?

I have an image uploaded to favicon area of the Divi theme I am using, but I’m not sure how to fix the errors the realfavicongenerator.net identified. Any advice?

Those 404s are not a problem for Google.

If you go the link https://realfavicongenerator.net/
All you need to do is upload your logo there and follow the instructions. The site will generate all the files you need to make those 404s go away.

I removed the favicon entirely to see if it would stop these 404s, but the plugin is still reporting TONS of those apple icons every day (like 8 pages of them). I would really like to know how to stop these, even though they aren’t harming the website, it is a real pain to sift through them looking for the valid 404s. Do you have ANY ideas about what could be going on?? Or how I might research and figure it out?

    Thank you!

Philippe from realfavicongenerator said: “If you have a plugin that helps you reading logs, it should have a rule to ignore these repetitive 404s.”

I don’t see this in the Redirection options, but am I missing it?

    Thank you!
    Anne
