https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/cant-configure-correctly/#post-10405456This is follow up with another thread. However, in our case, we are on shared hosting and they were not able to open the port. They asked us to reach out to you for the solution without the opening of port. Please let us know whether any such option is available card connect checkout works without opening the following ports 443, 6443 and 8443.

@maskann – Unfortunately, those ports have to be open. 443 is a standard port for SSL on the web, so it would be strange if that port was blocked or not open from your hosting provider.
Try contacting CardConnect via your account rep, and see if they can work with your host to open ports.
Thanks
This plugin just won’t work on shared hosting. You will always get:
Port 6443 is closed.
You will not be able to process transactions using the sandbox CardConnect environment.
First ensure that the ‘Site’ field is set and saved correctly above.
Then please request that your server admin or hosting provider opens port 6443.Port 8443 is closed.
You will not be able to process transactions using the production CardConnect environment.
First ensure that the ‘Site’ field is set and saved correctly above.
Then please request that your server admin or hosting provider opens port 8443.Shared hosting will NOT ever open these ports inbound. This plugin needs to be fixed to not require inbound ports as 99% of woocommerce installs are on shared hosting rendering this useless.
Also the “Site” field has no instructions to is support just told me to enter FTS in that field (just the three letters) which makes no sense. Support on this is awful and it sucks this can’t be used with shared hosting so I can use my cardconnect account and I am forced to use PayPal for WooCommerce! That means CardConnect is LOSING MONEY
This plugin just won’t work on shared hosting. You will always get:
Can you please contact CardConnect support and give them the hosting company contact details, perhaps they will assist in getting your hosting company to open these ports? We have had no issue so far with having these ports opened on any shared servers, including those from SiteGround, WPEngine, HostGator, GoDaddy, and PeoplesHost.

This is correct for the WooCommerce plugin in most cases. All lower case letters, however. – “fts”
Support can not get hosting providers to open ports on shared hosting. Mine happens to be on GoDaddy WordPress Hosting (which is shared). Godaddy said only VPS based hosting can control ports. I called other wordpress providers with the same result and VPS based hosting is much more $$$$ which is why wordpress hosting is generally a shared setup. The plugin needs to be re-designed to support shared hosting. I did talk to support about this and they basically said if you cannot control inbound firewall ports you can’t use it. Making it useless to almost every wordpress install out there. It’s rather silly.
@ccolotti . We’ve had numerous shared hosting provides open those ports for us.
Understood.
I may not have much sway, but I’ll certainly pass it along to CardConnect.GoDaddy refused for sure, and not in the place to migrate hosting just to get the plugin to work so for now PayPal makes the money on the fees. I’d just think CardConnect would want this to work regardless of the hosting platform and requiring opening firewall ports which is in fact problematic on many share providers. CardConnect is the one losing the money on the transactions.
I will add support was just less than helpful with any replies in general about the use of the plugin and simply told me I have to ask the provider to open the ports. When I contacted GoDaddy they said no specifically on the WordPress Hosting, so if you have gotten them to open the ports I’m not sure how as they would not for me.
Additionally I think this will not work if you are using CloudFlare as well. They don’t pass those ports, but I have tested both with and without CloudFlare in play. That is just another potential issue someone would have to deal with since a lot of folks are using CloudFlare now. If you can get the provider to open the ports I am pretty sure the 6443 port won’t work if you are front ended by cloudflare.

Just the way the plugin seems to be written to work prevents more things than it enables. To be clear these ports are required INCOMING as outbound everything is usually open but that is not 100% clear either.
I just stood up a completely new test wordpress install on a local server with NO outbound restrictions along with NO inbound firewall rules. The setup passed with no issues, so it seems the 6443 and 8443 must be OUTBOUND only? Nothing to do with inbound? Also not sure how to use the sandbox setup either as support would not answer that question.
Can someone clarify the ports are outbound only not inbound? When I contacted goDaddy I asked for INBOUND which makes sense why they would not allow it. I can ask for outbound rules on 8443 and 6443 if that is the case.
Also if there is any sandbox info that would help too.
I have spent a portion of my day going from hosting company to cardconnect support and have determined that nobody has any solution to this. If someone could direct me on how to have this plugin identify that ports are open, it will help immensely.

I make sure your hosting company opens traffic both ways for the IPs listed on this page https://support.cardconnect.com/cardpointe/marketplace/woocommerce, in addition to the ports.
What hosting company are you using? What PHP and WP, Woo, and CardConnect version do you have?
Also, please open your own thread if the above does not work, so we don’t bother the original poster.
Hosting company is inmotion. IP are whitelisted and ports are all updated, as I passed this documentation over to inmotion support
PHP is 7.1
WP: 5.7.2
WOO:3.5.2
CardConnect: 3.0.4Unfortunately, there is no way for me to confirm that the ports actually are open on your hosting account.
Once your hosting company has reported that they have the correct ports working, try refreshing the CardConnect setting page and see if the error messages go away.
