The word ‘behance’ appears in Google listings

    In Google search listings, the word ‘behance’ is used in place of either the page title or website name. e.g. type in ‘Easy Summer Coleslaw’ and my recipe appears as ‘Easy Summer Coleslaw – behance’ instead of ‘Easy Summer Coleslaw – Once Upon a Food Blog’.

    I have posted this on another forum and responders have pointed to the Simple Social Icon plugin as causing it.

    Could you shed any light on why this is happening?

  • I’m not seeing the same thing, either in Google or in the HTML source of your page.

    If you just recently made changes it may take a bit for Gogel to recrawl those results. Tho I am seeing it without the word “behance”.

    Simple Social Icons also does not adjust any meta tags or page titles.

    The site at https://onceuponafoodblog.com/ contains invalid HTML in the head element:

    This can prevent Google from reading your site’s normal title tag in some cases, causing it to look for other title tags on the page, such as the “Behance” title from Simple Social Icons. It may present this in some searches, depending on the search term used.

    The solution is to remove that invalid HTML from the head area. (Center and div tags are not allowed in the head element; as soon as browsers and crawlers encounter them they assume the head section has finished, which is why the site’s title tag is not being read correctly in some cases.)

    It’s possible the HTML was added manually to the site’s header scripts. If you don’t see it there, you can try disabling plugins one at a time until that portion of HTML no longer appears.
