Edits to some posts won’t save
-
I have about 900 posts, and edits to roughly half of them simply won’t save. No matter what I do — add categories, change text, change title, change author, change excerpt, add tags, change publish date, etc. — the changes don’t save after I click Update Post.
Instead, the page refreshes and WordPress displays a Post Updated message, but my changes aren’t there. The last edited date is unchanged, and no new post revision record is listed. If I preview before saving, the preview does not include my changes.
It’s all the more confusing because not all posts are affected. I cannot identify any commonality among the posts that are affected. Some have been created natively in WP; others have been imported. They span many categories. Some have excerpts; some don’t. Most have tags; but some don’t. I can’t see a pattern.
I’ve tried editing as admin, and also as a user with admin rights. I’ve tried deactivating all plugins. I’ve tried logging out and logging back in. I’ve tried changing settings, including back to default permalinks. I’ve tried both FF and IE 7. I’ve tried rebooting. I’ve tried using a different computer. I’ve even tried using a different ISP. (Yes, I’m grasping at straws, but I’m getting desperate.)
I can save changes to categories, tags, users, settings, etc. Only posts seem to be affected. For the most part, I can create new posts, although sometimes my new post “saves” without the text or categories.
Does anyone have any ideas?
