Email sharing broken on update to 6.2.1

    Hi

    Hoping for the same terrific support I had with this problem 7 months ago.

    Email sharing stopped working after I updated Jetpack to 6.2.1. You can select a post to share and send, but the emails are not sent/received.

    I had this same problem 7 months ago and got excellent help from Richard Archambault (give that guy a raise). See the thread here, explaining the problem:

    To be clear, the problem was resolved 7 months ago when I made a small edit to the sharedaddy.php file. When there was a Jetpack update after that time, I did not have to edit the file again. The problem appeared resolved, but with this latest update the problem has returned.

    I edited the sharedaddy.php file again, but that did not resolve the problem.

    Hi Rob,

    Thanks for reporting this, and sorry for the trouble! We’re going to release a new update early next week; do you think you can hold on and try editing the file again as you’re currently doing to see if that fixes the issue? I’m going to put our developers in pre-alert so they can jump on that if you won’t fix it with the new release.

    I understand that’s not ideal, but I hope you’re able to run this experiment with me.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I have edited the code in sharedaddy.php to remove “Shared Post” but the edit has not fixed the problem, as it did previously.

    When the update comes out next week, I’ll let you know if that update fixes this problem for me.

    Have you had any luck with the latest update to the Jetpack plugin?

    Is the previously provided code still not working?

    Once we get some feedback, we can take the next troubleshooting step in resolving your issue.

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    Even after updating my site to Jetpack 6.3.2, my email sharing does not work.

    Exact same result: On the front end of my site, you can select a post to share by email and send. You’re told the share has been sent but it does not send and is not received. There’s no error message at the front or backend of my site.

    Did you make the changes to the sharedaddy.php after installing the update?

    Yes, edited out the “Shared Post” text which appears around Line 63 in the sharedaddy.php file. I did not edit out anything else (left in the “” marks and brackets).

    Email sharing still does not work.
