• Hi,

We have been using this plugin now for some time and it has been working great.
After the last update the invoice numbers have stopped generating automatically.
The only way to get an invoice number is to click the PDF button in the admin panel, refresh the orders and then it is there.
This is having a knock on effect, as our site auto prints the orders and this has stopped where invoices are not being generated.

We have our own template and the status screen reports all is all ok.

Please can you help on this?

    Kind regards.

    Lee.

    Hello Lee,
Normally, the invoices are only auto-generated when sent as an attachment. Can you check that the emails that you have configured to go out with the attachment contain the PDF? If not, you may want to take a look at your PHP error log to see if you find any errors related to the PDF Invoices plugin.
Also, when you say “After the last update” – which version were you using before this? Did you apply any other updates at the same time?

    Hi Ewout,

The emails that should have attachments are New order (Admin email), Processing order and
Completed order. All the emails are being sent ok, I use WP Mail Log to keep a track of this.

I have just checked the emails and some of the New order (Admin email) do not have the invoice attached. These seem to match the ones that did not generate the number.

We use the latest version 2.1.10 and updated from 2.1.09. I generally update as soon as one is available.

    Kind regards.

    Hello Lee,
If you have access to your PHP error logs, that would be a first place to start investigating this. You mention ‘some [..] do not have the invoice attached’ = others do have it attached as well?

There weren’t many changes in the 2.1.9 to 2.1.10 update with regards to email attachments, the only thing that may affect this is the ‘disable free invoices’ setting/rule, which was put too late for some setups. That would only effect invoices with a 0 total though.

Let us know what you find!

    Hi Ewout,

I have tried enabling and disabling this option but no change. I have also checked the php error log and the only entry in it is from 1 Dec 2017 which we knew about and was linked to cpanel.

Since the last message, we have had orders in and again the invoice number is missing until clicking the PDF button on the admin screen.

Is there a way to give you access to our site so you can look at the files and the settings first hand?

    Kind regards.

    Hello Lee,
Unfortunately I can’t provide that level of support for the free version, I hope you understand.

    • You mentioned ‘some [..] do not have the invoice attached’ = does that mean others do have it attached?
    • What happens if you resend the email manually, does it contain the attachment?
    • Are there any other plugins on the site that may affect emails/email attachments?

    Hi Ewout,

Yes to clarify, some of the orders auto generate the the invoice number and these are auto printing through WooCommerce Print Orders, but the majority are not.

Here is how orders are coming in (pic on link). The top is a new order and the bottom one is after I have pressed on the PDF button in the actions section.

Thanks. That leaves us with the other two questions ??

    • What happens if you resend the email manually, does it contain the attachment?
    • Are there any other plugins on the site that may affect emails/email attachments?

The fact that Print Orders doesn’t print them either is also suspicious as this is not related to the email attachments. I have a hunch that this may be server memory or timeout limit related, although that should also show up in the PHP error logs…
