Been getting a lot of errors in the logs that show that Ocean Extra is trying to resize images but cannot because they are being served by Photon. Is there a conflict with JetPack where Photon cannot be turned on?

Since JetPack is a pretty widely used plugin with Photon generally automatically turned on, does Ocean Extra have any safeguards with this?

Hello, can you tell me exactly how can I reproduce this issue?
I will try to solve it.

I think you just need to create a post with an image and have both Ocean Extra enabled along with Jetpack Photon enabled.

Hello, I have installed Jetpack but I don’t find the Photon setting, is it part of a paid plan?

    Jetpack->Settings->Performance & Speed
The option is labeled as Jetpack’s global Content Delivery Network. This is essentially Photon. Not a paid plan

Ah okay, I was searching the Photon word ??
I see the issue, it is because the images are resized on the fly, that means they are not stored in your database so you don’t lose speed by resizing the images, but the problem is that you cannot use this feature when you use a CDN because it cannot retrieve the images are they are not in your database.

Thanks for confirming. My first post mentions exactly what you just found. My question is not as much where the error is coming from, but if OceanWP is going to add safeguards against this situation or provide a way to turn of Ocean Extra’s automatic resizing functionality that conflicts with Photon.

Hello, I cannot prevent this issue because I cannot know what CDN is used, you use Photon but many other users use something else.
What you need to do to prevent this is to remove your custom size in the customizer, for example, if you have added a custom image size for your related post, go to the Blog > Single Post section of the customizer and remove your custom size, that will solve the issue.

Since most WordPress instances are using JetPack/Photon CDNs and CDNs are rather common in this space, is there no fix for this conflict? It sounds like nothing is to be done on the user side except for them to search and find this issue thread.

I’ll change the custom size as in the customizer as suggested, but just wanted to clear up whether or not this is just a workaround that quite a number of WordPress users will be limited to?

Hi, I can do nothing because if a user uses for example KeyCDN, he will have the same problem.
If a CDN is used, you cannot try to resize your images via the customizer because the images are not stored on your site, so your CDN cannot retrieve them. In your case, you cannot use the resize feature if you use a CDN.

I guess my point is, how many people are going to know this? But otherwise it sounds like there’s not much that can be done about it. Thanks for explaining what Ocean Extra feature is causing this.

I will write an article in the documentation about this.
Unfortunately, I can do nothing about it if a CDN is used.

Feel free to reach me again if you have another problem ??

I am using normal Jetpack and Ocean Extra. Jetpack cannot retrieve the plugins and pages, resulting in the website showing white if Jetpack is connected.

Only after disabling Ocean Extra then manage to got it to work again

Hello @mistercwt, what is your PHP version? Do you have an error with the white screen?
