    Hi,

I am using Membership 2 plugin. I have various membership plans set up on my site, some free and some paid for. I would like to allow the free members the option to upgrade their membership to the paid version. In the “Upgrade Paths” section of the Free plan there are the options that “Members of Paid Plan can subscribe (Allow/Deny)” and under that is the option “Cancel Paid Plan on subscription (Keep/Cancel)”

I am a little confused by the second “Cancel” option. It seems to relate to the same plan that they are applying to upgrade to. Is this correct and what should I set the second option to, keep or cancel?

    Thanks

    Hi @petslife,

    Hope you’re doing well ??

This option is part of the Multiple Memberships add-on and it allows you to choose whether the previous membership should be kept.

Let’s say that you have memberships named Free and Paid.
You would go to Paid membership and edit Upgrade Paths in order to set which memberships are allowed to subscribe to Paid memberships.
First option there, in this case, will be “Members of Free can subscribe”, and with this enabled members of Free membership will be allowed to subscribe to Paid.

Second option would be “Cancel Free on subscription”, and this will allow you to set if members will keep their Free membership after switching to Paid.
If it’s set to “Keep”, then when someone from Free membership switches to Paid they will keep both of memberships assigned to their account.
If you set it to “Cancel” then when someone from Free subscribes to Paid they will get their Free membership removed and only Paid will be assigned to their account.

Hopefully, this is not too confusing and explains properly what’s going on ??

    Cheers,
    Predrag
