Difference Between Categories (WP Core) & Categories?

    In setting up a CPT, at the bottom of the setup you have Built-in Taxonomies choices.

    What is the difference between Categories (WP Core) and Categories?

    If you have more than one CPT how do these affect the CPTs?

    Is there a best practice in these choices with multiple CPTs?

    What is the difference between Categories (WP Core) and Categories?
    For this one, I am guessing/assuming either you or some other plugin/theme used “Categories” as the label for a custom taxonomy. What we decided to do was add “(WP Core)” at the end of the listing for the “category” taxonomy that comes from WordPress core. This was done to help avoid confusion like “which is the one I created custom???”.

    Not completely following on the last two questions. Are they related to the “Categories” parts in your first question?
