private area

  • Hi,

    I am not sure I understood well the differences between public, password protected, and private.
    I need to know if I can have a restricted area where to put pages, infos, images, downloads etc.) where only members can log into; by members I mean simple subsriber/visitors, people who don’t have any other priviledge.
    From what I read seems public is for all, passwrod protected is for people I choose, and private is for admin and editors.
    It seems the password protected is somehow what I am looking for, save that I don’t want to choose who is going tosee the info, as I’d like all registered users to see it.

    How can I do that?

  • I need a way to block the entire site or at least the user information/posts except for those who have registered and are approved.

    You can use .htaccess and .htpasswd to achieve that, just google something like “restricting a site using htaccess”, or “using .htaccess to protect a directory”, or othe similar phrases, and you’ll find lots of tutorials.
