• I just thought people should be aware of my experience: When I installed TDO Mini-Forms, my WORDPRESS DASHBOARD STOPPED WORKING!

When I tried to go to the Plugins page to deactivate TDO, it didn’t come up. I got an internal server error. Tried to go to Pages — internal server error. When I tried to go to the index (home) page of the Dashboad, it came up completely blank. I had the WordPress header and left sidebar, but the rest of the page was blank white space. Lots of pages in my Dashboard kept coming up either blank or with an internal server error!

I couldn’t deactivate it at the moment, so I tried to use its own uninstall function. It didn’t do anything. Absolutely nothing changed. Eventually, I clicked Plugins again and got lucky this time. So I deactivated TDO without hesitation and WordPress is working perfectly again!

I will never consider using this plugin because it could potentially lock me out of the Dashboard, thereby preventing me from having any access to my website or even disabling the plugin that caused the problem. I already had MAJOR trouble this weekend and had to uninstall WordPress after getting locked out of the Admin account due to a glitch, and I’m not about to relive that!

  • for future reference – if you have trouble deactivating a plugin, ftp to your plugins folder and rename or delete the plugin – this will deactivate it

also, I’m sure TDO is conflicting with another plugin as I use it on 2 sites currently without problems

Wowa lopezdl, could you give just a tiny bit more information? What other plugins were you running, what version of WordPress, OS of your host, etc. I’ve never heard of this happening before and I consider it pretty serious. I’m constantly testing the plugin and it’s working fine with WordPress 2.7.1 with a clean install and as samboll points out, he’s using it on two sites, and I know it is used on hundreds of others with no issues like this.

@samboll I was going to, actually, before I got it deactivated. I can’t install an FTP client on the school computer I was using and didn’t feel like going back to my room to do it, but got it deactivated after a minute anyway.

@the_dead_one I was only using “Multi-level Navigation Plugin” and “Search Unleashed.” I’ve got WP 2.7.1 (isn’t that the latest?). I’m not completely sure about the host server. It was set up by my professor at school, as it’s his personal server on which I’m developing the site. Anyway, I personally will not use TDO, and I thought others should know about my experience. But also another reason I won’t use it is because I learned how to use an HTML form with PHP to do what I wanted, and do it well enough to make me happy.

And I admit, maybe I should have been less bold in my topic name (probably should have used “can”). I tend to be a little bold before I calm down. Sorry about that!!
