Hi there. ( The word “menu” in the topic title should be “editor”. Sorry for that mistake.)

I activated the Gutenberg plugin after updating WP to 4.9.8. I like the new editor and looked forward to start using it, but it seems like I have to go back to the classic ones, since 3 of the options I need in the editor doesn’t longer appear in the editor. That is NextGen gallery, The Post Grid and the Ultimate Shortcodes. I guess it is the developers of the plugins who will have to fix this, but if they manage to do that, where in the new editor should I find these options then?

Thanks in advance for your answer, and good look with the further developing of the new editor.

    Hi there,

Glad to hear you’re looking forward to using Gutenberg!

You are quite right that those plugins are likely going to need some updates as they add buttons or elements to the editor screen, where they decide to add these I can’t say for sure, but the most likely scenario is that they will be added as blocks, NextGen will probably show you a new gallery block (we also have one built in that’s better than what we previously offered by default, have you checked it out? I personally love it). The same goes for The Post Grid. The final one, Ultimate Shortcodes, is likely going to add a whole slew of blocks.

Basically, what are shortcodes today, we hope that developers will adapt and convert into proper blocks moving forward, allowing you as the user much greater control over what is actually going to appear on your site.

Thanks for answering ?? Then I just have to wait till these plugins are compatible. We are “building” some new pages nowadays, so we need the access to the “Grid” from the editor.
And yes, I have tested your gallery function, but it doesn’t cover our needs like NextGen do. We don’t want to fill up the media library with all the pictures, could be 50 and more, we have for one post only. It will be a mess in the media library if we use that for our gallerier. On the other hand, we have a multisite, 5 different langauges, and using NextGen requires pictures upload on each site. If the gallery function could be “separated” from the ordinary media library, we could get away with one upload and use the “media share” plugin to share the gallery on several of our sites.
The shortcode plugin we have used only for buttons and it seems like the “button” in the new editor covers our need in posts/pages, even if there are fewer layout options. But “Shortcode Ultimate” also works in widgets, so…

I will ask in the plugin’s support about this too, and hopefully they will update and be compatible in not so long. Until then we just have to check out the tutorials and learn how to use Gutenberg ??

Good luck with the further development ??

    Best regards
