• I just setup multisite on a new WP install and have an existing S3 bucket with media that I was testing to see if all sites in the network can access it. Unfortunately, I’m only able to see the images uploaded for a particular site and not all sites. Is there a configuration change I can make to change this behavior? I’d like for each site to be able to share one S3 bucket and all sites have access to new and previously uploaded images.

You need a plugin that will give you a global media library across all your subsites. There are several out there, but we haven’t tested any of them to see if they’re any good or if they work with WP Offload S3.

Thanks @bradt. I can check into those plugins.

Is there not also a custom filter that could be added to my theme to remove the restriction of a S3 bucket only being available to the subsite’s media?

@cgidds It’s not so much that the bucket is restricted to a particular subsite, but more that each subsite has its own media library.

WP Offload S3 is configured at the network level, and all subsites do in fact use the same bucket, it’s just that WordPress doesn’t share media libraries between subsites.

You can tell WP Offload S3 to consider multiple domains as being the same site, that way media from one subsite’s media library can be used in another subsite by simply using the same media url in content.
