• Hi,
When a forum user clicks password reset, it sends them an email. They click the link in the email which takes them to the password reset page again, where they input in their email (not a new password). This creates a loop where they cannot set a new password.

“Lost your password? Please enter your username or email address. You will receive a link to create a new password via email.”

I have already tried changing to default theme and deactivating all plugins. I have also tried viewing in a private browser.

    Thanks for your help.

What exactly you did before this issue surfaced?

I clicked forgot password on the login page, which took me to the reset password page. It asked for email of account, i entered and clicked ok, which sent out the reset email. I clicked the link in the reset email and it took me back to the page asking for the email/username of account to send reset email to. At no point does it ever let me set a new password for the user

I clicked the link in the reset email and it took me back to the page asking for the email/username of account to send reset email to.

That is not what it should do.

Look at the link you receive. Does it have a greater than sign on the end of it? Like >

The links that WordPress sends have the angle brackets on either side of them, with < being on the front and > on the end. This is a standard notation for links in emails. Email clients are supposed to ignore them.

Hover over the link in your email, and check if the link includes the ending >. Try the link without that character.

This has been reported more frequently lately. Not sure why. The issue is being tracked here: https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/44589

@larajdesigns09 I modified your link so as to prevent others from potentially abusing it. Be careful about posting links that contain “secret codes” in them.

This link does not appear to be a normal WordPress link, nor does the page it sends you to appear to be a normal WordPress login or password reset. So, what plugin are you using to create these pages and do the logins and such?

I am also using Woocommerce & Avada, but I have contacted them previously and they said it was not them. It looks similar to the woocommerce emails to me

It looks like some kind of front end login system.

Without knowing what code you’re using, it’s not possible for us to help you. Look thru your plugins, figure out which one it is.
