cant anyone help

I am trying to put text widgets on my side bar, i add them,save changes then triy to edit the widget. when i click on edit it only opens up about a half an inch. i have tried different themes to see if it was that particular them and it does the same thing in three of the themes that i chose. i have no idea whats going on, i also deactivated all the plugins except nexgen gallery and askimet which i know for sure are good for wordpress 2.7

i also tried to edit a link manager tab before i deactivated the plugin to the same avail. the box just doesn’t open up up to edit. i should say that it doesn’t open up completlely. i probably need to say that i can paste code in the box by tabbing down to the appropriate field. but in a plugin that i have never used before i wouldn’t know how far to tab or what ever the plugin may contain.
