Import from Google Blogger trouble

  • I’m trying to port my blog entrys from my blogger blog https://brew-blog.blogspot.com/ to my new install of WordPress on my own hosting at https://www.brewpse.co.uk/blog/

    I can’t get wordpress to import from google’s blogger, I follow the tools>import>blogger and I get redirected to google to log in. However I then get the following error from google.

    “The page you have requested cannot be displayed. Another site was requesting access to your Google Account, but sent a malformed request. Please contact the site that you were trying to use when you received this message to inform them of the error. A detailed error message follows:
    The site “https://co.uk” has not been registered.”

    I have tryed this from two different internet connections and in safari, firefox and opera and get the same response.

    I have also tryed a number methods to import my Blogger xml file into wordpress all with no luck.

    Surely there has got to be an easy way to make this work, what am I missing

  • Hi there. I used to have a blogger.com account and I was able to export it to wordpress.com without any problem. I actually wish right now that I have to import coming from blogger because right now I have problem importing from wordpress.com to www.ads-software.com (isn’t that ironic).

    Anyway, I don’t know if you’ve done this but here’s what I did from blogger to wp.
    1. blogger: export file by saving to local machine (i.e., your computer)
    2. wordpress: import file by uploading the xml file that you just saved from blogger.com

    I have tried that but i get the following error

    Invalid file

    Please upload a valid WXR (WordPress eXtended RSS) export file.

    I’m having all the same issues and I’m about to chuck the laptop out the window. Anybody– pls help us!

    It is. They stopped this and the last I heard we are waiting for information from them.

    So is there any way to import from Blogger either direct through google or via the downloaded xml file? Has anybody done a cross refferece of what the tags need to be?

    Right then

    Down load your blog from blogger as a XML file, it took me a few attempts to get it to download correctly

    use https://blogger2wordpress.appspot.com/

    to creat the wxr file then import it into wordpress

    @brewpse I was able to import my blog from blogger to WordPress using the link. thanks.

    But, there is one problem – No comments and tags were imported. How to import comments and tags now?

    this seemed like the most simple & direct method for migration, so I tried it. However, I received this error msg:

    The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini

    one other question. when I used the appspot, it created this file:
    wordpress-wxr.xml.html
    Is that the correct nomenclature, or do I need to amend the file name?
